Give me a Kiss...at the Grand Tradition Fallbrook Wedding

This is still one of my favorite shots taken during the Group Portraits at the Grand Tradition for the wedding of Blake and Stephanie.  We tried the entire group shot session to get the little Ring Bearer to give the bride a kiss and he was just too shy.  This capture came when we got him the closest he ever got to kissing her and I was in the right spot (low to the ground) which is where you should be when shooting children’s images.  I LOVE his little cheeks…just ADORABLE!!

Love from the Ground Up at the San Diego LDS Temple Wedding

www.ldstempleweddings.com

www.jasonlanierweddingphotography.com

This image was taken at my wedding for David and Elaine at the San Diego LDS Temple in San Diego, CA. LDS weddings are very unique in that there is normally a lot of time between the ceremony and reception, which is a rarety for photographers.  This gives us the opportunity to capture some great shots without the pressure of needing to get to the Reception.  For this shot I was lying down in the grass...I can still feel the itchiness now, but it was worth it for this shot.

Camera settings: Nikon D3, 1/800 sec at f/11, 17mm at ISO 100, flash did not fire.  Taken at 12:32pm.

Who gets to do a wedding group shot with Mickey and Minnie?  Well, if you get married at Disneyland...you do!  Mickey and Minnie came to the Reception for about 45 minutes and the place just lit up...what an experience!

Camera settings: Nikon D3, 1/250 sec at f/9.0, 16mm at ISO 3200, flash fired.  Taken at 9:14pm.

Playing with Depth of Field at a Christmas House Wedding

www.christmashouseweddings.com

www.jasonlanierweddingphotography.com

This image was taken at my wedding for Mitch and Cassaundra at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.  I always love to add some more artistic shots for my clients so it's not just the normal hum-drum shots that can sometimes be prevalent in wedding photography.

For this shot I zoomed in to the little stem sticking out from the plants and then let the natural laws of photography do the rest.  See, the more you zoom into a shot the better depth of field (bokeh) you are going to create.  Hope you like it!

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/125 sec at f/5.6, 135mm at ISO 2000, flash did not fire.  Taken at 6:18pm on April 26, 2013 by Jason Lanier.

This image was taken at my wedding for Cameron and Whitney at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga.  I just LOVE the dance floor at the Christmas House because the lighting is great for photography.  The key to any Daddy Daughter dance is capturing the joy and emotions coming from the bride and her Father.  I just love the smile on Whitney's face with this image....

Ready to Throw the Bouquet at the Christmas House Inn

www.christmashouseweddings.com

This image was taken at my wedding for Mike and Kristina at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens.  The dance floor at the Christmas House is great for photography because of the lighting as you see above. Mixed with the right amount of flash or video light, you can capture great images which is so important to the wedding couple.  Hope you like it!

Dreaming of her wedding day at the Grand Tradition Fallbrook Bridal Room

www.grandtraditionfallbrook.com

This image was taken at my wedding at the Grand Tradition in Fallbrook, California for Matt and Linette.  The little flower girl was sitting on the chair looking at the bridal gown before Linette put on her dress.  The bridal room at the Grand Tradition is one of the best of all the venues I’ve shot at…just beautiful.

Cake Detail Shots at the Laguna Beach Montage Resort

www.lagunabeachmontageweddings.com

One of the most important things to get a shot of at the wedding is the wedding cake before either the kids touch it, it melts, or what is most common, before the wedding couple cuts it.  The couple puts so much effort into the design and look of their cake that it's vital that the photographer gets the shot of the cake. This image for Eric and Michele of their wedding cake at the Laguna Beach Montage Resort and Spa is an example of that.  I exposed for the background and used some video lighting for the cake. Camera settings: Nikon D3, 1/60 sec at f/3.8, 28mm at ISO 2000, flash fired.

LDS Temple Wedding Cover Image

www.ldstempleweddings.com

This image is of the beautiful bride Kristina Nash and is the cover image for my new website www.ldstempleweddings.com.  This background effect wasn't created in Photoshop....it was done out of necessity because of the environment that was present on her wedding day.  They were married at the Newport Beach Temple and we went down to Laguna Beach afterwards to do their couple shoot.

Well, a THICK layer of fog rolled in, but due to it being mid-day the sun was still fighting to get through.  By knowing how to expose for this situation and by using my flash we were able create this image...she was actually standing on top of a rock at the beach for me to get this angle.  Later on we had their Reception at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga.

Brides, make sure to hire photographers who know what they are doing for your wedding day.  It DOES make a difference...:)

(Not disparaging newer photographers.  If you are new, get some experience under a mentor before you start shooting paid weddings)...:)

Camera settings: Nikon D3, 1/125 sec at f/22, 28mm at ISO 800, flash fired.  Taken at 3:45pm.

This image was taken at my Disney Fairy Tale Wedding at Disneyland for Christina and Ransen.  Just before she got out of Cinderella's carriage and walked down the aisle, I grabbed this shot of her crossing her fingers...what a neat moment.
