A Natural Wedding Canopy...Hawaiian Style- this image was taken during my wedding fantasy shoot for Nate and Yvette at the Lava Tree State Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. This place is truly one of the most beautiful on earth and I've been in love with this road since I found it 4 years ago..(there's a landscape shot of the road hanging in my home). So I took the bride and groom down there and we had an absolute blast as we did all types of shots with this gorgeous scenery.

Take the time to get the right shot. Go to the right place, plan the right amount of time, dress up, make sure your gear is ready to go, visualize what you want to capture, and make it look amazing. Great pictures don't come from Photoshop, they come from your creativity and proper planning....

Next Workshop:

Temecula, California (We wil be shooting REAL wedding couples)!- June 26th and 27th

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/50 sec at f/6.3, ISO 320 at 35mm, flash fired. Taken at 6:22pm on June 16, 2012 by Jason Lanier.

Basking in the Hawaiian Sun- this image was taken while I was in Maui back in August of this year. We were shooting some tutorial videos and we had this amazing back drop, beautiful woman, and the golden sun. This was shot with natural light. If you shoot at the right time it will look like you are applying special effects because it just looks so good. If possible, shoot during the "magic hours" of 2 hours before and after sunset and sunrise...this was taken about 20 minutes before sunset. Hope you like it! Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/400 sec at f/5.6, 16mm at ISO 100, flash did not fire. Shot at 6:12pm on August 30, 2011 in Maui, Hawaii by Jason Lanier.

Hana Bride

I'm so sorry it's been so long since I've posted on the blog! I was hired to go and do 3 bridal shoots on the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii this last week....and I just got back last night from the red eye. The shoots that I did were some of the funnest and most adventurous shoots I've done and I can't tell you how much I loved them. I was blessed to be able to find some very original locations rather than the typical beach settings. This shot was taken off of the famous Hana Highway and as you can see it is stunning.

This is a natural shot...enhanced but nothing added. I had the Bride hop over a locked gate and we got this shot. The wind was blowing so well and we had a long veil so it worked out perfectly. While in Maui I was able to shoot in abandoned sugar cane factories, the sugar cane fields, historic and abandoned buildings, the ocean, and in tiny little churches built over a hundred years ago in towns that had less than 200 people for the total population. I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to do these shoots. I have several weddings next year in Hawaii and I can't wait to get back there! Click on the picture to see it bigger....Blogger always compresses the color and such when it's small....so enjoy it big!
