Anchorage Sunset by Jason Lanier

This image was taken just outside of Anchorage Alaska on the road that leads down towards Whittier and Seward. During the summer you have to wait a LONG time to get a sunset because it stays light for so long, but when they come they are almost always worth it!

Next Workshop: Las Vegas, Nevada- right after WPPI!!!

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/160 sec at f/5.6, 105mm at ISO 100, flash did not fire.  Taken at 10:11pm on July 7, 2012 by Jason Lanier.

Mirror Image

This was taken in Utah during a sunrise I shot at a pond with a cabin.  I just loved the mirror reflection given between the sky and the water.  It was a beautiful sunrise and I'm so grateful that I was able to be there to shoot it...

Next Workshop: Tucson, Arizona- February 12th and 13th

Camera settings: Nikon D2XS, 1/200 sec at f/9.0, 18mm at ISO 320.  Taken at 7:01am on March 11, 2008 by Jason Lanier in Utah, United States.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait...

I watched this lone Grizzly Bear for hours wait and wait and wait for a fish.  I was amazed how long he could stand the cold water just waiting for his meal.  And this wasn't just a gentle flow of the water, it was coming down very fast and would have made any human not only freeze, but fall over within seconds from it's powerful current.  At long last I watched this beautiful creature finally catch a fish, then two, then three.  But if he hadn't of waited all those hours, that never would have happend.  Good things do come to those who wait.

The image was taken in Brooks River, Alaska on one of my Grizzly Bear Adventures.  This isn't a zoo, you come into live contact with real bears.  So much so that Park Rangers require that you empty all of your food into a pantry even before you start hiking into the area.  Brooks River is only accessible via seaplane meaning it costs a lot and there aren't many people there which make it amazing!

The Other Side of Las Vegas

This image was taken outside of Las Vegas after a rain storm at the end of my workshop in the Vegas area.  We came back to this dry lake bed that was holding a ton of water, and it was just beautiful.  Hope you like it!

Split Tones at Niagara Falls

This image was taken at Niagara Falls during their light show which they do every night.  It's quite an amazing thing to witness and if you have the chance the go I highly recommend it.  The coloring in this image was all natural meaning it's what I saw, not enhanced in photoshop.  The hardest part was getting a shot without falling over the edge!
