The Art of Hiding Lights – A Photographer’s Secret Weapon
One of the best tricks in photography is mastering the art of hiding lights. 💡 It’s something every photographer should learn if they want to create clean, cinematic images without spending hours editing later.
Before A.I. cleanup tools came along, hiding your lights was essential, and honestly, it still is. In this shot of the beautiful Hollie taken in Northern Ireland, I hid my light just behind the wall on camera left. The result? Perfect illumination, no distractions, and no extra work in post.
Even if you could edit a light out of a still photo, try doing that in video or BTS footage, not so easy! Keeping your lighting out of frame makes for much smoother workflows and more professional results overall.
So what do you think? How do you keep your lights out of your shots? Drop your techniques or war stories in the comments below, I’d love to hear them! 👇
