Different shades of chocolate

Yesterday I was giving my three adopted triplet boys a bath when Michael asked me, "Daddy, why is your skin white and mine is brown?"  I replied, "Well, your birth Mom is white and your birth Dad is Mexican, so your half white and half Mexican."  Michael looked at me inquisitively and then looked down at his body and asked, "Which part is white, and which part is Mexican?"  While waiting for an answer to his question he and his two brothers starting looking at each other trying to find the two different parts, white and brown....

Kevin then said to me, "Dad, I've never been to Mexico before, how am I part Mexican?" Controlling my laughter as best as I could I thought I would use chocolate as a way to describe the differences in our skin color.  I explained that there are different shades of chocolate....white, brown, and dark brown....and that all forms of chocolate are different...but all are great.  I told them that sometimes different shades of chocolate mixes with others to create new flavors...and the result is something beautiful....like my three boys.

My boys then started talking about all the different variations of chocolate mixtures that could be created and how they would taste....if only we as a society could be as pure and innocent as little children like my three boys....we would remove our filters that build up over the years and see life through a crystal clear lens....what a great thought..

Emergency Landing- Video Version

Back in August of 2007 I had an emergency landing and had to drive 300 miles through 4 states just to make it to a wedding in Pensacola Beach, Florida.  I'm so glad it happened because this is how I met Leslie...and it ended up being a great story.  We've always had some video footage of it but only got done putting a piece together last night that is now on the website.  It's some pretty fun footage with a cameo from Leslie and some thoughts from the bride and groom on the whole ordeal.  Take a look and enjoy!!

Interview with a bride

Part of the new website is a section called, "Bride's Corner."  My team and I are working hard to add content constantly to this section that is meant to be a resource to prospective brides.  The Interview with a bride is a segment that captured an interview taken at one of my photography workshops with the intent on giving brides an idea of what they should look for in a wedding photographer...and also gives them some insight as to what it would be like to have Jason Lanier Photography shoot their event.  Click on the link below to take a look!!!!

Website Preview- I want it that way

This is some of my favorite video that we've ever taken at a wedding.  This was of the groom giving a dance to his bride with the help of his groomsmen to the Backstreet Boys song, "I want it that way."  In the background you'll see me, Leslie, Heath, and Cameron shooting.  This was truly a blast.  I hope you enjoy!!

Escapade

As I've been working on the website we've been pouring through every piece of video we have as we build content.  I came across this bit of video of my sons that my wife shot and I thought it could be a quick and good message for us as we head into the holiday season......I hope you enjoy!

Website Preview- Brides

Today's website preview is of our Bride's Gallery.  My love of shooting wedding photography starts and ends with the bride.  I honestly believe I shoot more bridal portrait sessions than any photographer out there....and I would shoot one every day if I had the time.  There is nothing more special than photographing a child.....but there is nothing more beautiful than shooting a bride.
