Episode 22- My Journey to the Edge of the Alaskan Frontier, Part 1- Join Jason Lanier for one of his most epic adventures yet where he travels alone to the edge of the Alaskan frontier on the Dalton Highway, known as the "most dangerous highway in the world."

The stretch of road the ties Fairbanks to Deadhorse, the northernmost point of Alaska accessible via car has been made famous by the reality show, "Ice Road Truckers." Jason decided to embark on this journey on his own to film a documentary on the trek using only a Chevy Malibu and his crazy self as he drives on this 500 stretch of road that is truly made of ice.

Passing through the world famous Atigun Pass that literally goes up the side of a mountain with nothing but ice is truly a memory that he will never forget and he shares his adventures here with you in Part 1 of 2 of his travels on this highway.

Episode 21- Covering the Border Crisis as a Photojournalist and a Human Being- In early March 2021 the United States saw a significant increase in the amount of immigrants coming over its borders illegally many of them seeking asylum. Jason Lanier decided to film a documentary to cover this situation to find the truth and reality of the situation vs. what we're being told by media and politicians.

In Episode 21, Jason discusses his journey to document this situation that took him over 2000 miles as he covered the border states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Jason's exploits took him to travel over to Mexico as well and experience the situation from the other side of the border wall.

Jason went into the heaviest hit areas and spent nearly a week down at the Rio Grande documenting the harrowing journey that immigrants made from the Mexican side of the river over to US soil by way of human traffickers known as Coyotes.

This isn't a political podcast. It's a simple retelling of what Jason experienced from both a photojournalism and a human perspective. Jason talks about the gear that he used to document this journey as well as his experiences with the people involved. Episode 20- What’s going on with me shooting FUJI??? Join Jason Lanier for episode 20 where he describes his recent interest in shooting with the Fuji mirrorless system. As a long time Sony and Nikon shooter, Jason jumping into the Fuji system has his followers asking why. And this episode delves into that question as he talks about Fuji's crop sensor AND medium format cameras.

Jason also shares stories from his recent shoot at the abandoned distillery in Lexington, Kentucky that he did where he shot both Sony and Fuji cameras.

In Episode 16 Jason also speaks about the need for work life balance and how he has been able to spend time with his family and fill that need for him while successfully managing a very demanding photography career.

Episode 15- Shooting Crop Sensor with the new Tamron Lens! Collaborating with Other Creatives! Want some tips on how to collaborate with other creatives? Jason discusses the process of collaborating with a lot of different creatives within the same week in different locations, different wardrobe options and more!

He also discusses his thoughts on the new Tamron lens that is made for crop sensor cameras. Jason had to dust off his old A6500 that he hasn't shot in many years bringing him back to his roots where he started with the world of Sony.

Wanna learn how to create something out of nothing as a photographer if you have a small or no budget? Join ME as we discuss exactly how I do that on my shoots with a guest spot with the model Anakaren Sanchez.

We talk about how we have to sometimes MacGyver stuff on the shoots. How we find props and accents on all of the shoots by what's around me in the environment vs. buying and bringing stuff that isn't indigenous to the location.

Episode 13- (December 28, 2020) 2020 YEAR IN REVIEW- Riots, Arrests, Abandoned Ships, & Sandstorms- With Guest Siray Kong! Join Jason as he tells once in a lifetime stories from his photography exploits of 2020. This is a time capsule episode that chronicles his vast experiences documenting the Covid 19 pandemic, the protests and riots from all over the United States and what it was like to shoot a wedding during Covid!

Jason then moves onto talking about how he started rebuilding his business in August after months of not being able to shoot during the pandemic and having to cancel all of his workshops and stop client related shoots. He details excursions to the abandoned ship Donna Kay, shooting a Ballerina in the Nevada Desert during a sandstorm, running away from Lil Wayne's House and more!

The podcast ends with an interview of a great model named Siray Kong who Jason shot for a Christmas special in her home. This episode is full of great information!


Episode 12 (December 21, 2020) ROADTRIP! What it’s like for Jason and the models he travels with on the road. Get ready to go on the road with Jason Lanier and the beautiful model/actress Maria Milian as they travel together and do an interview together to let you know what it's like! Learn how Jason organizes everything from finding and selecting wardrobe, dealing with no Make Up Artist or Hairstylist, creating shoots from pulling over on the side of the road, doing a shoot with no crew and more. Jason and Maria also discuss what it's like for a model to read the comments on some of Jason's Youtube videos and how Jason had to talk his way out of leaving certain things in the video lol.

Episode 6- Salton Sea! Finding Your Muse, Shooting Cigar Smoke, and Getting Dirty in a Garage!- Join Jason and Emily for Jason Lanier Unfiltered Episode 6 filmed on location at the Salton Sea! In this episode they discuss the creative balance that can be achieved when a photographer and muse team up together for success. They then breakdown the second part of their recently completed trip to Cuba where they describe a historic horseride expedition into the cigar fields followed by an in depth review of a shoot they did with the group in Havana in a mechanics garage.

The episode features discussions about their scouting and shooting out at the Salton Sea and how mastering your lenses can benefit your work tremendously. This was recorded when they were leading a group on a Photo Excursion over many parts of Cuba and they have some really fun stories to share as well as tips on traveling to this mysterious place. From the struggle to get past customs, getting models their lost bags, dealing with taxis where prices change, singing with rastafarians and more, this episode is jam packed with fun stories and insightful information!


Episode 4- Creating Real Emotion by UNLEASHING your Inner Child as a Photographer- Join Jason and Emily for episode 4 of Unfiltered filmed on location in Oceanside, California where they discuss some the importance of unleashing your inner 5 year old child to take your creativity to the next level.

Many times we adults build up walls around us to try and fit into the constructs of who society tells us we're supposed to be. The main discussion in this podcast is how you can break those down and more importantly break them down for your subjects to create shots that are believable rather than the Resting Witch Face that we see in many photographers work these days.

Jason fields questions from the audience that have been submitted via his website and responds to fan comments on previous Unfiltered podcasts.


Episode 3- Don't be a Photo SNOB! Tales from South Africa Safari and Fan Comments- Join Jason and Emily for episode 3 of Unfiltered on location again in the Florida Everglades during the day where they discuss how they were able to get up close and personal with a big 8 foot alligator in the Florida Everglades and share footage from the ordeal where Jason touched the tail of this modern day dinosaur!

Jason was then asked to share his stories from his recent trip to South Africa in the summer of 2018 where he went on safari in Kruger National Park. Favorite moments included a docile hyena, portraits of elephants, leopards eating porcupines and much more.
