Thank you for visiting us here at the gear section of Jason's website.  Jason shoots with a variety of different cameras, lenses, lights, flashes, and more.  Below is a list of his favorite items that he uses with a quick summary of not only what he uses but why he uses some of his favorites.  We are constantly updating and adding content to this page so keep checking back if you don't see what you're looking for!

Bodies- Jason uses the Sony A7 series line of cameras for his shooting.  He owns the A7Rii, A7s, A7ii, and the A7R.  His favorite all purpose camera is the A7Rii.  If he could only take 1 camera to a shoot, it would be the A7Rii.  His favorite camera for lowlight photography is the A7S which is the ISO low light king of the world.  Perfect for concert and indoor or night photography where artificial light is either discouraged or unavailable.  His favorite for portraits is the A7ii because of it's 24mp capability and 5 axis image stabilization.  Sometimes you just don't need 42mp like you'll find in the A7Rii, so when all those megapixels aren't needed he uses the A7ii.  The A7R is an excellent camera for landscape and architectural photography, but now that the A7Rii has come out there isn't as much of a need for Jason to use that camera.

Lenses- the eyes of our cameras!  Jason loves his Zeiss lenses.  Of all the lenses he's ever used nothing has struck him with the same force as the Zeiss lenses that he is able to use with Sony,  Jason's favorite lens is the 35mm FE f/1.4 Zeiss because of it's beautiful fall off, depth of field and color rendering.  There's just something magical about that lens when you shoot it wide open and he loves it.  His favorite for landscapes and all around purpose is the 16-35 FE Zeiss f/4.  For portraits he loves the 55mm FE Zeiss f/1.8 along with the aforementioned 35mm.  For macro work he is in love with the 90mm Sony G macro lens which is known as one of the sharpest lenses in the world and is also great for portraits as well as macro work.  Complimentary lenses include the 70-200 Sony FE G lens and the 24-240 Sony FE lens, both of which he uses for weddings.  For sports and wildlife photography Jason uses the Sony G 70-400 lens with the LAEA3 Adapter on the A7Rii.
