In February 2017 Sony released two new lenses, the 100mm STF and the 85mm f/1.8 lenses.  For people like me the 100mm STF was the BIG NEWS because I already own two 85mm native AF lenses for my Sony mirrorless, the G Master and the Batis.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this new 85mm is a MUST for Sony shooters because they need great lenses at more affordable prices.

So Sony sent me both lenses....and I decided to test the 85mm first.  Believe me, I surprised myself too lol.  This post and the video created are my first impressions and shoot using the 85mm.  They don't constitute a full review as I like to use a lens for a little while before passing judgment and recommendation.  

So we planned a shoot in Los Angeles and then IT RAINED.  So we booked an impromptu studio shoot on the same day and I did a shoot completely using natural and ambient light only.  Below are some of the shots.
