This image was taken at my Colorado landscape workshop as we returned back to the hotel from our time spent at the Rocky Mountain National Park.  The key to shooting the moon is to do it before the ambient light in the sky is completely gone.  If you wait and shoot it when it's completely dark outside it will be overexposed and you won't be able to capture any clouds etc.

This image was shot on a tripod with my Nikon 28-300mm lens.

Camera settings: Nikon D800, 4 sec at f/5.6, 300mm at ISO 640, flash did not fire.  Taken at 9:21pm.
